Our Mission: To Provide The Best Dental Nurse Training In The UK

24 Hours a day, 7 days a week

The Dental Nurse Academy is a Dental Nurse Course, developed by Dentists and teaching professionals to provide a better way to study to become a qualified Dental Nurse. As our dental nurse training is online, it can be done wherever and whenever it is convenient to learn. Our videos can be viewed on any modern device with good internet connectivity (PC or Mac, Tablet or laptop, iPhone or other smartphone). Watch, rewind, repeat and even slow down videos to help with your learning.

Video Lessons

Teaching is provided in modules that are broken down into bite-sized topics within a lesson. Throughout the course, video presentations on all of the topics can be watched as many times as necessary, and a set of notes are provided to supplement learning. Each lesson includes HD video, combining audio narration with animation, photographs, diagrams, sketches and labels to help learners progress, whatever their learning style. It's an easy way to learn.  You can sign up for Diploma or apply for Apprenticeship straight away: no waiting for 'term time' to start or online course start dates to be released.

Diploma

The national Dental Nurse Academy is an accredited training provider for online training that should lead to the trainee taking the Diploma in Dental Nursing, awarded by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN). Successful completion will allow the student to apply for registration with the GDC (General Dental Council), the Regulatory Body to which ALL Dental Professionals in the UK must belong in order to practise.

Learning is fully flexible: students can study whenever and wherever suits them best, and there are no off-the-job commitments specified. Memberships for the Diploma last up to 2 years, though most students typically complete in 18 months. Students or employers can pay for the course, paid online either up front or spread over monthly payments (see pricing for more information).

Apprenticeship

The Dental Nurse Apprenticeship course is designed to help dental nurses achieve the NEBDN Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (Integrated Apprenticeship), a qualification recognised by the General Dental Council (GDC).

Learners are required to complete at least 6 hours per week Off-The-Job training, normally over an 18-month programme (this may vary depending on experience). The apprenticeship is a fully funded course (normally 95% UK Government and 5% Employer). Eligibility rules apply. Visit our apprenticeship page to find out more about the apprenticeship in dental nursing.

Support At Every Step

We support you with a team of contacts right from the start. You can book a 1-1 welcome call once you have joined to help with your onboarding, you will have access to support via email and phone throughout the course, and you will have an appointed personal tutor to help with your coursework/assessments once you are registered with the exam board (NEBDN) as well. Our engagement manager may also contact you and your employer to help ensure you remain on track. Our online chatbot also provides additional assistance 24/7.

Assessments

Throughout the course, a variety of tests are conducted to ensure good progress before the final NEBDN assessments: Every lesson has an associated test or activity to complete, as well as larger module tests at the end of each module. We provide a mock exam under conditions similar to the final examination as well.

In order to achieve qualification, Diploma students and Apprentices must complete an online portfolio (coursework), comprising written and practical assessments, witnessed in practice by a GDC registered person. Additionally, an online written test must be passed before moving to a final structured clinical assessment, conducted via video call with the exam board. All assessments are completed online.
